The Optimist Children’s Camp was started in 1967 as a joint project of the Billings area Optimist Clubs. It is a weeklong camp held annually outside of Red Lodge, Montana for 50 special needs children assisted by 30-40 volunteer counselors at no cost to the families. The staff and nurses make sure that the camp is a safe and enjoyable experience that campers look forward to year after year! The camp provides the opportunity for these kids to experience fishing, hiking, swimming and camping in the mountains while giving their families a weeklong respite from their normal everyday activities.
